Able To Eat and Live Again, Thanks to Small Bowel Transplant: Wendy Ryan’s Story

Wendy suffered for more than 10 years following a traumatic bowel injury. She was unable to eat and digest food, so she received her nutrition through an IV. Her condition was being managed by a gastroenterologist, but when all treatment options failed and her health deteriorated, she was referred for a small bowel transplant. Four months after being listed for a transplant, she received the call that would change her life. Her life-giving organ was made possible by a family’s decision to donate their 10-year-old son’s organs after an unexpected brain aneurysm. Watch Wendy’s story and see her meet the donor family for the first time.
